Track Record

Originally from England, Jonathan joined the David Leadbetter group in 1996. He was already a well established coach prior to this and helped Helen Dobson to here first LPGA success in 1993. He moved over to the United States in that year and has been based in Florida ever since. He was a senior instructor at the IMG/DLGA Academies for nine years. This academy is widely credited as being at the cutting edge of junior golf instruction. Indeed students live at the academy all year round and are coached each day. Jonathan helped to instigate many of the initiatives that have been so successful there and has an amazing track record of achievement too as you can see below.

In 2005, Long time student Michael Campbell wanted Jonathan to be his full time, personal coach. He took on this challenge with relish. The result was that three months after this full time union Michael won the US Open. He also won the Wentworth World Matchplay and got up to number eleven in the world. But Jonathan has had a variety of success at every level. Including his second US Amateur Champion in 2009.

He continues to write for various magazines around the world including Golf Digest, Golf Mexico, Golf Journal in Germany, Golf Punk and a large monthly slot in Golf International in the UK. His TV work includes occasional analysis for the Golf Channel and for Sky TV in the UK.

Jonathan’s track record speaks for itself:

One US Open Champion, Two US Amateur Champions, two US Girls Champions (that is five USGA Champs), four US Number one juniors, three AJGA players of the year, a winner on every major pro tour (PGA, LPGA, European, Challenge, Asian, Australasian), One hundred and twenty three junior national and international wins.

Jonathan was voted a ‘Top 20 Teacher under 40’ By Golf Digest Magazine in 2006-2008 and has been voted in the ‘Top Teacher In State Rankings” for Florida for the last ten years. But he continues to have a thirst for knowledge and enjoys helping all levels to improve. He is very much a team player and enjoys being involved in a positive learning environment.
